Hi Jennifer,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thank you for bringing this question to us.
Alert, alert - there is a princess down! Rest assured she will be well cared for at the Walt Disney World Resort. There are an array of
Services for Guests with Disabilities. In particular, they offer a range of accommodations for guests with
Mobility Disabilities.
Definitely rent a wheelchair. Be advised, however, that they are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can always try an outside vendor that delivers to Walt Disney World Resorts. There is a list of featured providers on the
Wheelchair Rental site. My husband has a mobility disability and we have been pleased with the level of service provided by cast members.
I would also suggest that you make a note on your resort reservation requesting a wheelchair accessible room and/or a room close to the main building. On the day of your arrival, if you are assigned a room that is not either of these, feel free to call guest services and speak with someone about your predicament. The last time we visited, we did online check-in and I received a text message alert when our room was ready. The room location was not what I had requested. I called the guest services number provided in the text message and was able to get another room that better suited my husband's needs.
Certainly, I do empathize. I broke my ankle years ago and had to wear a full leg cast. It was a struggle, especially learning how to walk with crutches!
Despite this challenge, I trust your princess and the rest of the royal entourage will have a magical time Jennifer!
