I have a 10 year old boy, 8 year old girl, 5 year old girl. We will be coming to WDW in late October. We are trying to decide whether to stay at Art of Animation or All Star Resort. Is the extra money for Art of Animation worth it?

    Hi, Janice!

I am happy to hear you are planning a trip to Walt Disney World! Your kids must be so excited.

The Art of Animation is under one year old, so everything is new and fresh.  The Family Suite themes with Cars, Finding Nemo, and Lion King are really fun and families have been raving about this resort.   There are also Standard Rooms with the Little Mermaid theme.

All-Star Music also has Family Suites.  While not as new and fancy as the Art of Animation suites, they  have the same basic idea with a separate bedroom, kitchenette, and sleeping for 6 guests.   Standard Rooms are also available at Music.  Sports and Movies have only Standard Rooms, no Family Suites.  All the Value Resorts have full food courts, game arcades, pools, and loads of fun!

The Art of Animation is really great if you can fit it into the budget.  It is always fun to be a new resort with its fancy pool and nice food court.  That said, I really think your kids will have just as much fun if you choose an All-Star Resort.  When you are kid, I think as long as you have a pool, chicken fingers, and some Disney magic, your vacation is perfect!

If you are looking for a Standard Room, I would for sure choose an All-Star as I do not think your 10 year old will probably love staying in the Little Mermaid rooms.  If you are going for a suite, the suites at Art of Animation are nicer than Music, but definitely more pricey! You will have to weigh the pros and cons, but if I had to decide, I would be laying pool-side at All-Star Sports....but the magical decision is yours.  Good luck deciding!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
