I would like for My 9 year old autistic son to ride the horses on the trail with Me but I dont know if he can handle one by him self do they have double saddle's or some other way to help with this. He is to big for the pony's.

Hiya, Gilbert. It's so nice that you found your way back to us here at planDisney. Let's see what kind of magic we can make for your upcoming visit.

While I do not have any children myself, as a teacher, I get to work with kids of all different ages and abilities and have, of course, had the privilege of working with many children with autism. I particularly love the accommodations that the Walt Disney World Resort makes for Guests of all abilities. It's important that everyone gets to experience the magic in the way that makes them the most comfortable.

According to the current guidelines, Guests who want to enjoy Horseback Trail Rides at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort must meet the requirements listed on the experience page and must ride independently. But your family can likely still visit Tri-Circle-D Ranch, as well as look into making a reservation for a carriage ride at Fort Wilderness or at Disney's Port Orleans Resort- Riverside. Just note that if you don't have a recreation activity booked at the resort and/or are not staying there, you won't be able to park in the resort's lot. This will be verified at the security booth upon entering the resort in your car.

If you're making that visit to Fort Wilderness and possibly riding in a horse-drawn carriage, you may also want to check out the long-running classic, the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. I've done this one twice and most recently experienced it with a house full of fellow planDisney panelists. I was even asked to participate, and while I usually get embarrassed by things like that, I embraced it, laughed along, and it became one of the highlights of the night. The delicious sangria may have helped with that!

Gilbert, I hope that all of your family's dreams come true on your next visit. If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to help.

To all who come to this happy place: welcome,
    Matt
