Hi Lauren,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. I’m so thrilled to hear that your Youngling wants to learn the ways of the Force at
Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple! It’s such an amazing experience.
I have asthma too, and completely understand your concerns about the sign-up process. I’m here to reassure you: there won’t be any running. I know there are lots of stories out there about Guests racing to the new and popular attractions, and while I know it does happen sometimes (don’t tell the Main Mouse, but I was part of a group running to meet Anna and Elsa back when they first appeared in the parks), the Cast Members have processes in place and do a really excellent job of controlling the crowds and keeping it moving at a fast but comfortable pace.
My son and I recently took part in the sign-up process. We showed up at Disney’s Hollywood Studios about 30 minutes before park opening and asked a Cast Member to point us to the best line for heading to Jedi Training sign-ups. Sometimes there is a special line for this, and sometimes not; my advice is to head left as you enter the park. You’ll see Cast Members directing Guests, so just follow their lead.
Lauren, if this process sounds like it will be a problem for your son, I recommend calling the Disability Services team at (407) 560-2547. They will listen to your concerns and help you make a plan that will work best for your son’s needs. We want your son to be able to have an absolutely magical experience at Jedi Training!
Have the best time, and don’t forget to stop in at the Backlot Express restaurant to get a yummy peanut butter and chocolate Darth Vader cupcake to celebrate your Youngling’s mastery of the Force.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
