Can my 6 year old be able to ride on the rides with a cast on his arm?

    Hi Cheryl!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I love it when my two “worlds” collide, and I am happy to help you navigate the Parks with a medical question. Rest assured, Disneyland Resort is committed to providing all its Guests with the most magical of experiences, even those who happen to be in a cast!

My first ask, as a physician, is that you, please get the all-clear from his doctor before you head on vacation. After that, you will be happy to hEAR that there are not very many attractions that he will have to skip! (I don’t know how tall he is, but my 5-year-old twins are short-stacks so it might be a matter of height vs. his cast!). Here’s a list of attractions that have health advisories, mainly due to drops or bumps, so I would preview those to see if y’all are comfortable with him riding.

Besides the bumpy ones, I would avoid rides that are going to get his cast wet (unless he has a waterproof one, but even then, I would still advise some caution). Matterhorn Bobsleds and Pirates of the Caribbean have small splashes, and I would cover his arm with a jacket or a poncho on those. I would probably avoid Grizzly River Run and Splash Mountain, as both of those attractions are bound to soak!

Cheryl, I would consider adding a Disney MaxPass to your ticket. It’s a fantastic way to avoid long waits in line and manage your day. That way, your son can get the most out of his vacay, but not be too tired out. Lastly, if you have any medical concerns at all while you are at the Resort, First Aid Centers are in each of the Parks and Downtown Disney District.

    chEARs to a magical vacation!
