Is the YC huge? When traveling with a 21 mo. old, does it makes sense to request a room in a certain area of the resort (closer to buses/boat launch/etc)? How long does it take to walk to Beach Club restaurants (mug refill stations) from furthest rooms?

Stephan you ask an excellent question.  I have stayed at the Yacht Club resort many times and it is one of my favorites on property.  It is spread out and large with benefits for each area.  If you are located at the far end you are indeed farther from restaurants and Stormalong Bay. It is generally a less active area though and you are near the "quiet" pool which is located at the far end of the resort.

With a little one, I would go ahead and request a room near the lobby area.  Explain your wish to be as close as possible to the swimming, restaurants, and recreation as well as the bus and water taxi transportation.  When you made your reservation you should have been asked for your choice of water or garden view as the room rates will differ with this option.  I have stayed in many areas of the resort and have never felt ridiculously far away with any of the rooms as you might at some of the other very large Disney resorts.  I am confident you will have a wonderful stay at the Yacht Club resort!
