Now that yall have changed the das requirements what options due you offer for those of us who used to qualify under non developmental disorders, such as my postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome?

Hello, Thomas, and welcome to planDisney.

As you know, changes are being made to the Disability Access Service (DAS) that go into effect on May 20, 2024. I know thinking about change and no longer knowing what to expect can lead to a lot of questions and concerns. One particular aspect of the program I especially appreciate is that it is built on a very individualized approach. The process starts with a conversation, a time to help understand the Guest's needs and align the accommodations to best meet them.

Walt Disney World Resort continues to be dedicated to ensuring Guests have a wonderful experience at the theme parks and resorts. Before your next visit, you can register for a live video chat and start this conversation. This is a great time to understand what services are available and ask any questions you have to make sure you know how to use them.

I also recommend looking into a few great resources for information on available support for Guests with disabilities. The Accessibility Planning Guide & Recommendations has comprehensive information for Walt Disney World Guests. You may also want to look at a list of access options for attraction queues that may help you navigate your days.

One tool I have also found super handy in theme parks is the My Disney Experience app. Mobile Food Ordering has helped me avoid time in lines waiting for lunch or a snack. I also enjoy Merchandise Mobile Checkout, especially late in the day when everyone seems to be in the Emporium. And if you are staying in a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, did you know the Bus Times under your resort information let you know when a bus is scheduled to arrive at your theme park? It lists the times the buses are expected to be at your resort and arrive at the park. I have used this to make sure I do not leave my resort room, only to wave at a bus pulling out of the pickup area. I also use it to plan when to head out of a theme park. Do I have time to stop in the Main Street Confectionary on my way out of Magic Kingdom Park? I ask the app.

I hope the information available online and the support you receive from Cast Members when you request assistance is helpful as you plan your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth. Please come back to planDisney with any other questions.

    Thinking of the happiest things,
    Jana
