Hi ya pals! We are coming in April with our four year old and 11 month old. Any tips and tricks for traveling with the kiddos during the current enhanced mitigation in place?

    Welcome back, Courtney!

Courtney, just as the animals were thankful for Simba’s return to the Pride Lands, that’s how we hEAR at planDisney feel when a guest comes back with another question!

Now, Courtney, as a Mom of two Mousketeers who have been enjoying the Walt Disney World Resort since they were babies, I can tell you I was asking the same questions before our last trip and am happy to share what worked for us when traveling during this time.

As all guests (ages two and older) of the Walt Disney World Resort are required to wear a face covering unless actively eating or drinking (while stationary), my first tip is to make sure those little ones stay hydrated. I find that when my kids wear face coverings they are less likely to be drinking, so, we built in a lot more breaks throughout the park than we normally take. This had the added bonus of letting us rest and just enjoy the atmosphere!

My second tip is to make sure you leave yourself plenty of travel time between your resort (if you are staying in a Disney Resorts Collection hotel) and the parks. As physical distancing measures are in place on the buses, water craft, monorail and the Disney Skyliner, it may take longer than you remember to get to your destination. Knowing and planning for this in advance really helped me feel more relaxed when waiting.

Finally, make sure you have the latest version of the My Disney Experience Mobile app on your phone so that you are able to quickly check wait times for attractions and take advantage of mobile ordering. And… speaking of mobile ordering, many guests love the convenience of ordering from their smartphones and this service has become popular. To cut down on your wait time after placing your mobile order, my tip is to anticipate when you might want to eat and order well in advance. I know that if I wait until someone says they are hungry, we quickly turn from Snow White’s cheerful countenance to Grumpy in a matter of minutes!

Courtney, I hope this helps as you are getting ready for your trip. Please swing on back to planDisney with any additional questions. We are all EARS!

Wishing you a trip filled with unforgettable moments,
    Lauren

My husband and I became Disney Vacation Club Members because we love visiting the Disney Parks and with hectic day-to-day schedules, wanted to prioritize time away for our family. The options at the Walt Disney World Resort make each trip unique and I am excited to help other families build vacations with those unforgettable moments.
