Got a ? for ya, Joel...we had to cancel our trip this year but still have our unused Disney gift card and Disney Visa points reward card. We are going in Oct. 2012. Will the cards still be good if they remain unused? Do you think there will be free DDP?

Hey, Jaynee! Good to hear from you. I wish it were under better conditions. I'm glad you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Usually when I'm in the same position, I can't tell if it's the light at the end of the tunnel or just the train.

Your Disney Gift Card won't expire. Your Disney Visa reward points might. Check the card and see if there's an expiration date on it. If there is and it expires before your October 2012 trip, then use your rewards points card to buy a Disney gift card (online or at the Disney Store) and you'll be good to go.

Free dining has often been offered during parts of October in the past. In 2012, I'd expect most of New Fantasyland to be completed by that time of year. This will boost attendance, which may make the incentive of offering free dining to get people to Disney World unnecessary. I'd say plan on it not being available, and if it is, then it'll be a pleasant surprise.
