I am writing for a Make-a-Wish family who’s coming to WDW with a 3.5 year old who’s not mobile and rides in an adaptive stroller. What rides can she go on? I know this wonderful family is ready to make many magical memories. Thank you!

Welcome back to planDisney Kimberly, and thank you so much for your thoughtful question! It sounds like you’re helping prepare a truly special visit to Walt Disney World Resort, and I’m honored to be part of the planning journey. Making the magic accessible for every guest is something Disney takes great care in, and I’d be happy to share how this incredible guest can enjoy many attractions and experiences throughout the parks, all while creating unforgettable memories with their family.

Walt Disney World goes above and beyond to ensure that guests of all abilities feel welcomed and included, and there are many attractions that the guest who uses an adaptive stroller will be able to enjoy. Though The Rules for Using Strollers currently states guests may not bring wagons (of any size) or stroller wagons into the parks, since she is not mobile, it’s helpful to know that Disney often allows adaptive strollers to be used as wheelchairs, which means she can stay in her stroller throughout queues and, in some cases, even on the attraction itself.

In Magic Kingdom, gentle boat rides like "it’s a small world" are often accessible, and shows like Mickey’s PhilharMagic, the Enchanted Tiki Room, and Country Bear Jamboree are fantastic for young children and allow her to remain comfortably seated. Attractions like The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid are calm and colorful, requiring only minimal transfer assistance. Even interactive rides like Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin have accessible ride vehicles, and friendly Cast Members are always ready to assist.

At EPCOT, she can experience The Seas with Nemo & Friends, Spaceship Earth, and the Gran Fiesta Tour in Mexico, which all have accessible ride vehicles or gentle transfer options. The shows here, like Turtle Talk with Crush and the Pixar Short Film Festival, are perfect for young guests and don’t require any transfer at all.

Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, she’ll love Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway for how bright it is and engaging story, and Toy Story Mania has accessible options too. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! are fantastic stage shows with designated accessible seating. Kilimanjaro Safaris is another great choice with special ride vehicles that allow her to stay in her stroller or transfer with support. For a peaceful, and one of my favorite rides, Na’vi River Journey in Pandora is a lovely boat ride with transfer options.

I also recommend the family register for Disability Access Service (DAS), which can help reduce time spent waiting in lines and provide a more comfortable experience overall. Cast Members are incredibly supportive and will do everything they can to ensure the family’s day is full of ease and joy.

I hope this guidance helps make the planning a little easier and gives you confidence as this amazing family gets ready for their unforgettable adventure at Walt Disney World Resort. Thank you again for stopping by planDisney, it’s been a joy to assist you. Wishing the family a trip filled with laughter, love, and truly magical moments!
