I have wristbands that were purchased maybe in 2009 and I can't link them to my account...

    Hello Stephanie!

Welcome and thank you for stopping by planDisney with your question.

MagicBands are an amazing and fashionable piece of wearable technology. My collection consists of at least 40 of them and counting. I have a dozen of the original, first edition, MagicBands on display in my home because the batteries in MagicBands only last about 2 years. The remainder of my collection is the upgraded MagicBand 2, with a recommended battery life of 2 years. However, I have a few MagicBands that are about 4 years old and are still going strong.

I am sorry that you are having a difficult time activating your MagicBands. However, if your MagicBands have been assigned to another person, you will not be able to activate them, they are non-transferrable.  If you would like to check the status of your old MagicBands on your account, you can see the current status of all your MagicBands in My Disney Experience by clicking on the “My MagicBands and Cards” tab. You will see all of your previously used bands here, active and inactive. You can reactivate a MagicBand by clicking on the “Activate” button of the MagicBand you want. Be sure to match the ID code on the list with the 12-digit alpha-numeric code on the inside of your MagicBand.

Stephanie, I think it is time to upgrade your MagicBand collection. If you are a Guest of select Disney Resorts Collection hotels, you can order MagicBands at pre-arrival prices in My Disney Experience, by clicking on the “My MagicBands and Cards” tab. If you will be a Guest with off-site accommodations, you can check out the dozens of designs at shopDisney.com. You will find all kinds of MagicBands here, from the basic solid color to the limited edition attraction and special edition character MagicBands. You can also purchase MagicBands at any Disney Resorts Collection hotel, certain shops in Disney Springs, and at various retail locations in all Disney Theme Parks.

I hope this helps with your planning. If you have any further questions, please come back and visit me here at planDisney. I would be happy to help you.

    See ya real soon,
    Andrea
