Hi Catherine!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am so excited to “sea” that you have a Disney Cruise Line vacation planned! You are going to have the most magical of adventures and make some special memories that will last a lifetime!
When onboard a Disney Cruise Line ship, you will not utilize MagicBands as you do when at Walt Disney World Resort. Instead, you will receive a Key to the World card upon check-in which will serve as your stateroom key, be used for any onboard purchases such as beverage service or gift shop purchases and it will also be scanned each time you disembark and re-enter the ship at the ports of call you visit. The Key to the World card also has a lot of handy information on it such as your rotational dining schedule as well as the location you will go to for your safety drill. Since you will always want to have this card with you, I recommend bringing a lanyard with you. That way it is easily accessible, and you will always have it with you even when you don’t have a pocket or bag with you!
If you do have children that will be participating in the onboard
Youth Clubs, they will receive an Oceaneer Band upon check-in. This band looks like the MagicBands used at the theme parks but is used only to check children in and out of the Youth Clubs. When you complete your
Online Check-In, you will also complete the Youth Registration for them to participate in the Youth Clubs. So, no need to bring those MagicBands with you onboard…leave them at home and bring a lanyard instead!
As you continue planning for your adventure at sea, please come back with any other questions you may have!
