are my wrist bands still active

Hello John, and welcome to planDisney!

Thanks for stopping by with your question about my old friend MagicBand!

Yes, you can still use your old MagicBand at Walt Disney World as long as it is still active.  To check the status of your MagicBand, go to your My Disney Experience account and select MagicBand & Cards. You will be able to scroll down the page to see “Manage Disney Bands or Cards” and you will see your MagicBands listed.  That is the spot where you will find out whether they are active or not.  If they are active, you should be fine to use those MagicBands at most touchpoints.

The older versions of the MagicBands do start to lose their battery strength after a few years, but the active bands should still be fine for Lightning Lanes, unlocking your resort room door and even for charging purchases to your room.  Just a word of caution that the older the MagicBand, the larger the possibility that the battery will have low power and will eventually run its useful course.

I still have all of my old MagicBands hanging around my house.  And by hanging around, I mean I’ve built a holiday wreath out of my old friends!  I still use the active ones and will pick one out to take with me when I’m ready to go on my next trip even though I do own a MagicBand+ as well.  If you haven’t looked into the MagicBand+, they are pretty stylish and do enhance your interaction with a variety of entertainment and experiences throughout the parks.

John, if you are looking for any additional reasons to head to Walt Disney World in the near future, check out all of the special offers on rooms and ticket packages this summer!  It is a great time to make those plans to have some summer fun in the magic!  And when you do, don’t forget to enjoy a Mickey Bar or two!
