Welcome back, Ronald! It's great to have you stop back by for help with your Spring Disney visit.
In most cases, your
MagicBands are still good to use, so don’t toss them just yet.
If you have older MagicBands, the original versions, they can still work for park entry,
Lightning Lane taps,
PhotoPass, and charging privileges (if you're staying at a Disney resort) as long as the internal long-range battery is still active. Even if that battery has faded over time, the band usually still works for touch points like entering the park or tapping into Lightning Lanes. The long-range features, like automatically linking ride photos, are typically the first things to stop working after a few years, but the band itself is often still perfectly usable.
The most important step is making sure the band is linked and active in your
My Disney Experience account. You can check this by opening the app, going to MagicBands & Cards, and confirming that the band shows as active and assigned to you. If it’s there, you’re good to go.
If you want the newest features, like rechargeable batteries, haptic feedback, and light-up effects during nighttime shows, that’s where MagicBand+ comes in. Those are completely optional upgrades, not requirements.
So if your MagicBands are already linked and in decent shape, feel free to bring them along. They’re still a convenient, easy way to tap into the magic without pulling out your phone all day.
Have a wonderful time, Ronald, on your upcoming trip. If more questions come up before your visit, stop and see us again.
Toodles,
Korliss
