Hey there, Sanjana! Welcome to planDisney, and thanks for sharing your birthday bash question with us!
Whether you’re turning 1 or 101, Walt Disney World is a magical place to celebrate a birthday. There are all sorts of ways to plan a celebration that’s as special as your kiddo, but here are a few of my top tips.
First, be sure to grab your complimentary birthday button. Simply stop by guest services at any of the theme parks or the front desk of a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, and a friendly Cast Member will be happy to give you a birthday button. This way, Cast Members and characters around the resort will know you’re celebrating a special day and will be sure to wish your kiddo a special pixie-dusted birthday!
Next, what would a birthday celebration be without a cake? Not only does Walt Disney World feature countless birthday-worthy delicious treats, but you can also order a Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake at participating table-service restaurants. You can find a list of participating dining locations and ordering information
here, and it’s especially convenient to have the option to place your order while booking a dining reservation or through the My Disney Experience mobile app. You can also order beautiful specialty cakes through Amorette's Patisserie at Disney Springs. Ordering information and a gallery of their delectable work are
available through their website.
Speaking of food, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate a big first birthday than dining with a Disney Princess or Mickey Mouse. Whoever is your little one’s favorite, chances are there is a character dining experience for them. These extra-special meals will give you and your child a chance to have an up-close experience with a Disney character and create magical memories you will treasure forever. You can see all the available options by tapping the “Character Dining” filter on the
Walt Disney World website or the My Disney Experience app. These are very popular experiences, so be sure to make your reservations as soon as they become available (60 days ahead of your arrival date).
If you’d like a way to commemorate your special trip, you may want to consider booking a
Capture Your Moment photo session. These private 20-minute photo sessions with a PhotoPass photographer are a great way to remember your celebratory Walt Disney World vacation and are available at the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios.
