Is it worth giving up time in the parks to visit the different resorts over the holidays to see the decorations? If yes, which resorts should we visit? We will be at Disney for 6 days the first week of December. Thank you!

Lyndsay since you will be at Walt Disney World for almost a week you should take the time to check out the fabulous, well themed decorations at one of the deluxe resorts. Each one is so unique and detailed. HGTV even has an entire holiday special devoted to WDW Christmas decorations.

Consider making reservations at Chef Mickey's in Disney's Contemporary Resort. You can enjoy a bountiful buffet with Mickey and friends and then take a little additional time to stroll about the resort and see the decorations. I love the gingerbread tree here inspired by Mary Blair, the creator of the soaring mural in the Grand Canyon concourse.

Only a short monorail ride from the Magic Kingdom, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort is another good option. This elegantly decorated hotel has a giant gingerbread house you may walk inside and masses of poinsettias. Zipping over from the park and taking a walk around the resort would not take long.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge offers giraffes, zebras, a multi-story tall Christmas tree and two of my favorite restaurants in Walt Disney World-Jiko- The Cooking Place and Boma- Flavors of Africa. A meal at either of these spots offers slightly exotic food with an African flair. This resort does require more travel time than most places on WDW property but the mix of animals, great food, and holiday decorations available to enjoy you might find the trip well worth the extra bus ride.

Enjoy visit to WDW during such a festive time!
