Is it worth getting a Disney vacation planner person? I have got emails saying they don’t charge but not sure if there’s any true benefit in booking with one?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Hallie!

Your pals here on the Disney Parks Moms Panel take our Disney vacation planning very seriously. Whether we’re making color-coded spreadsheets, keeping lists of glow cube drinks and their locations, or getting into serious conversations about FastPass+ strategy, we live and breathe magical planning. I have a dear friend who is an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner, and she’s just like us – the two of us sure know how to stretch a taco lunch date into hours of Disney talk.

As much as I love being a DisNerd, not everyone shares our obsession, and that’s where an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner comes in. You’re right – they do not charge their clients for their planning services. I’ve used one several times and I’ve never paid a cent for her services, though they’ve been worth their weight in pixie dust to me.

An Authorized Disney Vacation Planner can help as much or as little as you’d like in planning your visit to a Disney destination. They can make your resort room or vacation package reservation, book your dining reservations, and make your FastPass+ selections. I’m having a very busy summer, and am planning an epic Walt Disney World trip for my husband and I to celebrate a special occasion. My travel agent has done all of these things for us, and has even added notes to our resort and dining reservations to specify that we’re celebrating. A few years ago we stayed at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort because my son adores Ursula the Sea Witch, and I’m positive our travel agent sprinkled pixie dust to ensure that every morning when we opened our room door, we were looking right at Ursula. A good travel agent can make magic!

An Authorized Disney Vacation Planner will have a conversation with you about your travel party, your vacation wishes, and will even work to get a sense of your “dream come true” vacation. If a Special Offer pops up for your travel dates, they can apply it to your reservation if possible. They can point you in the direction of planning resources and can provide park maps and itineraries. I love to plan Walt Disney World vacations and I still really appreciate the help of a travel agent – after all, they get up at 6:00 a.m. to book those dining reservations with a smile!

My friend Eean gives some great tips on selecting an Authorized Disney Vacation planner, as well as her perspective on using a travel agent in this answer, which I hope you’ll find useful.

If, like all of us here on the Moms Panel, you love every aspect of magical planning, a travel agent may not be for you. But if it would help to have someone else keep track of the important dates and details so you can focus on the fun, you might want to consider it. Either way, I hope you have so much fun planning your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort, and please stop by if you think of more great questions!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
