I"m worried about leaving my children on the boat in the nursery/Oceaneer's club while my husband and I do an excursion off the boat that they are not old enough to do. Have you ever done this? What if there is an emergency, can we get back to the b

    Hi, Kristin!

Yes, we have left a child or two on a Disney ship in the care of the Youth Activities Counselors while we were on an excursion, and I have to tell you that I did it (at first) with trepidation.  I was assured and reassured by the counselors (as well as my husband and other children) that my "babies" were going to be okay without me. Yet, it wasn't until I got back to the ship later that afternoon to find them hand-in-hand with Captain Hook that I was completely at ease. They were more than okay, and I was thankful that they had had the experience of enjoying the kids' clubs while we ventured out with our older children.

Since then, we have left one or even all of our children on board to experience a Port Adventure without them, and although I will always have heart pangs whenever I leave my kids, I am comforted knowing that there are systems in place to handle any emergencies as well as to get in touch with me while I'm on shore in case I'm needed. The Port Adventures Team has all the contact information for the shore excursion operators. Therefore, that's yet another reason to book Port Adventures through Disney!

I hope this gives you peace of mind knowing that you can go and enjoy yourself while your children are in the care of the capable Youth Activities Team. Please let me know if you think of other questions or have other concerns. I'm here to help!

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
