Chris from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Hello. Does the World of Color Mickey ears still work with the show here at California Adventure? I still have the paint brush luckily so that's the only way I can change the color.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for visiting planDisney! Your question sparked a long-lost memory of mine.  The “Glow with the Show” ears were magical as they synched with nightime entertainment, like World of Color! I still have a pair of “Glow with the Show” Minnie ears myself, and your question inspired me to dust them off and change the batteries. I am happy to find that they still light up! Sounds like yours are working too—how exciting!

I did a bit of digging into the syncing technology. While I haven’t brought mine to the parks recently, some of my fellow panelists have reported that due to updates in show technology, the older syncing feature is no longer supported. While this may be a bibbity bobbity bummer, you still have really cool retro Disney merchandise. It is always worth bringing those things out and showing them off. They are the mark of a long time Disney fan!

If you’re looking for other interactive ways to light up the night, I’ve got some good news! You may want to consider a MagicBand+. Not only is it practical for park entry, Lightning Lane access, and linking your PhotoPass pictures, but it also brings a bit of extra pixie dust to your experience. MagicBand+ pulses and changes colors in harmony with nighttime shows, interacts with select locations in the parks, and can activate magical moments across Disneyland and Disney World. While it may not be as showy as those iconic ears, it's a versatile way to feel more connected to the magic. You can purchase a MagicBand+ online at the Disney Store, or at the Resorts in major stores, like World of Disney

Speaking of glowing experiences—have you seen the new merchandise celebrating Disneyland's 70th Anniversary? There’s a glowing Key to Disneyland coming soon! This limited-edition item will allow guests to "unlock" special interactive moments at stations in each of the nine lands at Disneyland park. Once you’ve unlocked all the lands, the key will reveal a hidden keepsake pin inside. It's like carrying a little piece of the nighttime enchantment in your hand.

As we approach the 70th Anniversary, who knows what other magical devices might be released to light up your visit even more? Be sure to keep an eye on the Disney Store and the Disney Parks Blog for updates on the latest glowing gadgets and collectible keepsakes.

I hope this helps, Chris! If you have any more questions or need extra planning tips, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of my fellow planDisney panelists. We’re always here to add a little sparkle and shine to your vacation.

    Happy planning—and keep glowing!
