Hi Donald,
Welcome to planDisney! I’m thrilled you stopped by with your question, and even more excited that your
Walt Disney World Resort vacation is just around the corner. I hope you’ve already secured your advance dining reservations and are getting ready to make your
Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections, which you can do starting seven days before check-in. And here's a little extra pixie dust, right now, Guests staying at a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel get free admission to one of the water parks on their check-in day. That deal was so good, I actually moved my flight just to squeeze in some splash time!
Regarding your upcoming stay at
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, and more specifically, your room, I checked in with a Cast Member to make sure I gave you the most accurate info possible. They confirmed that all the rooms have been updated with laminate wood-style flooring, which is usually a good sign that the soft goods, like bedding and towels, have been refreshed as well.
Since you mentioned you're in a Woods View room with a 5th Sleeper, chances are you’ll be placed in one of the Alligator Bayou buildings. Based on what I’ve seen during my last visit in January 2025 and everything I’ve read since, those rooms have indeed gone through both hard and soft goods refurbishments. For full clarity, the Cast Member also shared that the Royal Guest Rooms, which are typically found in the Magnolia Bend section of the resort, are the ones most likely to be seeing updates during your visit. So just to be safe, I’d recommend chatting with the front desk at check-in and requesting a room in Alligator Bayou to make sure you get exactly what you're hoping for.
Port Orleans – Riverside holds a special place in my heart. It was the very first Disney Resort I ever stayed in, back when it was still called Dixie Landings, and it’s one I always love returning to on my quick in-and-out trips. Be sure to swing by the
Muddy Rivers pool bar and grab a Frozen Irish Coffee. Trust me, it’s delicious and perfect for cooling off from the hot Florida sun!
I hope this helps answer your question, Donald. If anything else comes up or if you need help fine-tuning your plans, don’t hesitate to reach out.
I’m always happy to help.
See you in the bayou!
