Hey there Kerry, it's great to welcome you to planDisney!
I spend a lot of time researching some great
transportation strategies to get across Walt Disney World Resort and when it comes to staying at a location with access to waterways with
complimentary boat transportation, there's really nothing that matches the ease of taking a Sassagoula River Cruise from
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter.
You'll be happy to hear that taking advantage of water transportation is currently the easiest and most accessible method to make your way over to eat at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside with pathways and ramps for those with mobility needs, especially since the boats themselves are equipped to be able to accommodate guests in wheelchairs or Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs). Typically the ride itself takes about 5 minutes, and can vary depending on how long it takes to load or unload; as you make your way over to the docks be sure to let the Cast Members know where you're heading for your meal and whether there's anything that you should be aware of as you look to make your way back.
For example, at the current time the operating hours for these routes with Yellow and Purple flags serving either of Disney's Port Orleans Resort locations may be limited due to the ongoing showtimes of
Disney Dreams that Soar taking place at
Disney Springs. (
Performances are currently scheduled to end by the time of your trip, which may be subject to change without prior notice.) Throughout the year, inclement weather conditions like lightning storms or water levels may also affect whether the boats are running, and in this case
bus transportation will be provided as an alternative. If you're really in a bit of a time crunch, scheduling a ride using an app like utilizing
Minnie Van Service is another great option that can even take you from the nearest parking lot to where your room is located to your
dining location.
Hope this was helpful Kerry -
