Just wondering if there is a water park discount if you are an annual pass holder. If so can you purchase the discounted tickets at the resort you are staying at? And one last question, which water park would be best for my five and a half year old son?

Hi Jennifer! If you are the proud owner of the Premium or the Premiere Annual Pass at Disney you will have use of the water parks as part of the pass. If you have the regular Annual Pass then you are able to purchase discounted tickets for up to three guests. Generally it is about $4 off the price of a ticket for ages 10 and up and $3 off for ages 3-9. There may be dates that this is not available so check with your resort before heading out. Also remember that during the winter months one of the water parks will be down for normal refurbishment at a time. This usually begins before Christmas so both parks are back up and running for the spring break season.  You can purchase water park tickets at your resort concierge desk.

My personal choice for a water park for a five year old is Blizzard Beach. I love the large area that is set aside just for the younger ones and "old" kids can't be on the slides and tubes. They will actually have a measuring stick that will tell the cast member if a child is too big! There is a nice wave pool but kids must be supervised as it can be rough. There is also a family raft ride. My favorite is the lazy river that circles the entire water park. If your child is a new swimmer they have inner tubes with bottoms so you don't have to worry about them slipping out.

Be sure and take plenty of sun screen and if you want to blow your budget consider renting one of the cabanas for the day. They come complete with cooler and drinks, towels and small safe. Add to that a concierge who will get your food and bring it to you and you have a true day or relaxation! Have fun!
