Hello! I am wondering what thanksgiving day is like at Disneyland? It’s my daughter’s 5th birthday that day and trying to see how it is that day. I have noticed the holiday party is not offered thanksgiving week. Do you know why?

    Hello, Nicole!

Welcome to planDisney we are so happy to have you visiting us today. Please wish your daughter a very “Happy Birthday” from all of us! Celebrating any birthday at The Happiest Place on Earth is truly magical. I can’t help but to book a trip around my birthday every year. Last year we spent my birthday at Walt Disney World Resort and it was truly something.

It’s been a few years since I’ve visited the Disneyland Resort on Thanksgiving Day. I think my mom's favorite part was not having to prepare a huge meal. Trust me, our traditions were missed but just being there with our family was more than enough. The best part was that we felt as though we were able to appropriately welcome in the holiday season

I do know that this is the very first year that an After Hours Event is taking place at the Disneyland Resort for this specific season. Hopefully, it will only encourage more nights to be added next year. I am hoping that I can attend then! I’m truly regretting not booking anything for this year.

As far as your day there, you can plan for a day full of magic. Be sure to select your “must do’s” before arriving so that you have a general idea of what you want to experience. I’m sure the holiday spirit will be present as well. Guests will be celebrating the holiday and of course just being there in general, so don’t forget to pack your smile! I do recommend arriving early when the park opens. I feel that park crowds can depend on certain holidays, so arriving early not only gives you the most time in the parks, but it allows you to be one of the first groups of people in the parks and on certain attractions. My family loves being there to open the park.

Have fun celebrating, Nicole, and please be sure to let us know if there’s anything else we can help with.
