Hi! Just wondering what the temperature is like in Orlando Florida in mid August to beginning of September?

Hi Stephanie! Visiting Walt Disney World in the summer will mean lots of heat and humidity but many guests enjoy that heat especially if they live up north.

Mid August does start to see a decrease in park crowds but that does not mean the temperature decreases. The average highs for August leading into September will be in the 90's with the average lows in the 70's. The humidity stays quite high through September and doesn't really start to cool off until October.

The other thing to keep in mind is the daily afternoon showers or thunderstorms that are common to Orlando in the summer. These can clear out a park and for those willing to don the parkas and hang in there it can be a great time to experience short lines for the attractions. Many guests relish the temporary cool off from a rain shower but be prepared for everything to be a bit steamy once the rain has ended. August and September are within the hurricane season and although hurricanes have rarely affected Walt Disney World their weather systems can bring weather changes to the area.

Dress accordingly for the heat wearing light colors and light materials. Stay hydrated and keep plenty of sunscreen on hand. Because the crowds have diminished take your time and keep your pace slow and enjoy all the magic that surrounds you in the parks and resorts. And by all means have fun!
