Montgomery from NY Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Hi! I was wondering if you could tell me who the Magic Kingdom barbershop is for? Kid’s first cut? Children? Or are adults allowed/encouraged to get a haircut/shave/trim? Thank you! Monty

Well hello there Monty, I'd like to wish you a warm welcome to planDisney!

With a distinguished name like Montgomery, it seems like you'd fit right in among the citizens of Main Street, U.S.A. in the same way that being named Prince makes me feel right at home in Magic Kingdom Park. I had also wondered whether the Harmony Barber Shop had any restrictions on who could take advantage of their services, so we recently went there to see for ourselves and I'm happy to share my experience with you!

The stylists there were happy to welcome clientele of all ages, ranging from the youngest customers to more seasoned adult Mouseketeers who were fortunate enough to reserve one of the very limited spaces available that seemingly get booked up very quickly! (The Cast Members did also note that they may take walk-ins from time to time, but this is something that eager folks and families tend to try to snag as early as possible in the morning.) A sign posted just behind the cash register adjacent to the entrance listed the following services:

    • Baby's First Haircut
    • Child's Haircut
    • Adult Haircut
    • Beard Trim
It's important to note that the First Haircut was the highest-priced offering, which included a commemorative Mickey Ear Hat with "My 1st Haircut" embroidered on it, along with a keepsake lock of hair and certificate. Though the sign may have said "Baby", the stylists said that older children and even adults have requested this!

I opted for an Adult Haircut myself, and discovered that all of the Harmony Barber Shop stylists are state-licensed cosmetologists and aren't restricted to only cutting children's hair. (I was very pleased with my result and even opted for the sprinkling of Pixie Dust at the end!) I also convinced my husband to get a bread trim, which was an excellent deal considering the very reasonable price that wasn't much more than a DOLE Whip. Some things that you might want to be aware of are that the waiting area is within an incredibly compact space, and that despite technically being open to all ages many families may assume that this was simply for children - though I highly doubt there are any little ones coming for a beard trim if it were - so be prepared for the occasional odd look while you're in the chair. If you're very lucky, The Dapper Dans have also been known to stroll by for a quick serenade - though this can never be guaranteed!

If you don't already have a reservation, I highly recommend checking frequently leading up to your visit as there's a one-day cancellation policy that comes with a fee for folks that don't show up which was how we managed to book our appointments the day before! In the meantime, be sure to keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for the latest updates before you head down for your Walt Disney World Resort vacation and come back again soon to planDisney for any other answers or advice!

Wishing you all the best on your quest to get a trim on Main Street!
