Hi Deborah,
The restaurants at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge have absolutely delicious food.
Sanaa serves African fare with Indian flavors.
Jiko - The Cooking Place has delicious African food, wood-burning ovens, and an extensive South African wine list.
Boma - Flavors of Africa is a delicious buffet with African-inspired fare. Sanaa is located in the Kidani Village area, where Jiko and Boma are located at Jambo House.
Of these three restaurants, Sanaa is the only one with a direct view of the savanna with animals. I would consider Jiko to be the fanciest of the three, and Sanaa next. My suggestion for you with your young children is to go to Boma. The buffet is delicious and offers not only African fare, but also more American fare if your children do not care for the African flavors. From there, you can take a walk out to the Uzima Pool area, which is adjacent to Boma. Walking around the pool, there are a couple of overlooks where you can see the animals. You can also walk right through the lobby to Arusha Rock, from where you can also see lots of animals. Both of these walks are quick and easy and would barely take you out of your way of going to Boma.
I hope that you are able to enjoy some of the delicious food at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Deborah! Have a wonderful time planning your vacation, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
