Hi Victoria! Welcome to planDisney.
I know the next few months of hard work, training, and anticipation of your
runDisney Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend celebrating 30 years of Magical Miles will be worth every effort. There is nothing like that early morning alarm and bus ride to the pre-race party with unique Disney Characters, DJs, and fellow runners. I wish you much good luck and health as you prepare for your race day.
While things can always change and be updated, as of the last
runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend, the bus shuttles were not running from the theme parks to
ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. However, I definitely have my tricks for working around this slight issue. More often than not on my expo day, I plan my park day near a Disney Resorts Collection hotel. My go-to is
EPCOT. I will spend the morning at the park to allow the crowd to die down at the Expo. In the early afternoon, I exit via the International Gateway in World Showcase and walk to
Disney's Yacht Club and grab bus transportation at the bus stop. This little hack works great visiting
Magic Kingdom Park and walking over to
Disney's Contemporary Resort as well.
I will advise if you do have a must-have commemorative merchandise item, you may want to consider an early arrival at the expo. I have found the last couple of race weekends those items go fast. Do not forget to take advantage of the discounts available at some of the fabulous restaurants at
Disney Springs. I enjoyed a discounted celebratory brunch at
Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' in the spring.
Keeping it Magical,
Cindy
