Mark:
Thanks for coming to the Mom's Panel for our opinion! Believe me, we've got them!
I've stayed at Coronado Springs: once in the Casitas and another time in the Cabanas. For the price, it's a good choice if you think you'll eat at the resort (it has one of the best food courts not only of the Moderates but at any of Disney's resorts, in my opinion) or have children who would enjoy the pool with its Mayan temple-slide and "big dig" playground next door. If you like to jog, the sidewalk around the lake is pleasant and level.
The rooms were spacious and clean, and I preferred them to those at the more-rustic Port Orleans: Riverside. I would recommend requesting the Casitas or Cabanas over the more-remote, and less-appealing Ranchos. The views were typical of most Moderate resorts as there are exterior sidewalks in front of your window, so I don't think paying for a "view" is worth the upgrade. You'll enjoy the lake as you walk to the ample bus stops on the property or as you swing lazily in one of the many hammocks that dot the sandy shore.
Bottom Line: If I had a choice, I definitely think it beats any Value Resort--even for the money--and I would also choose it over fellow-Moderate Caribbean Beach Resort because of the Food Court. Honestly, though, of all the Moderates, I'd have a hard choice between it and the smaller
Port Orleans: French Quarter because of POFQ's boat to Downtown Disney. But Coronado Springs' pool and playground edges out POFQ's, not to mention the above-average food!
Wishing you a magical vacation!
