wondering if you are planning any special ceremonies for the 70th anniversay of the opening of Disneyland. My mother was an employee on opening day and would like to return for any celebrations. Please let me know what special things you may be able to do

Hey there, hi there, Russ! Welcome to planDisney. We are so happy you stopped by!

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing that your mother was an opening day Cast Member. That is so special and I am sure she has plenty of stories to share from that experience. I couldn't think of a better time to visit than on the 70th anniversary of opening day in July. Just last week it was announced that on the anniversary of opening day, Walt Disney - A Magical Life, will debut at the Main Street Opera House, which I am sure will be something your mother would love to see. Over at the Main Street Cinema will be a short film all about the last verse of the Sherman Brothers song, "It's A Small World". This last verse will also debut in the attraction on that same day. As time gets closer, I am sure we will hear more details about what other special events and offerings may happen on that special day. I definitely recommend that you keep checking Disney Parks Blog for official announcements.

There are some things that have been announced that will be happening during the kick-off for the 70th Celebration in May and continue over the summer. Disneyland Park will have Paint the Night Parade returning as well as Wondrous Journeys (accompanied with fireworks on select nights) and over at California Adventure World of Color Happiness will be debuting.

Russ, I hope your mother is able to make it back for opening day celebration. If you have any other questions for us we will be here!

Well hello there, friend! I'm Carrie, a work-from-home mom and military wife who currently calls sunny San Diego home. You'll find my family in the parks braving drops and coasters to work up our appetite to take as many snack breaks as we can. While Disneyland is our home away from home, we love trying to make a Walt Disney World Resort vacation happen at least once a year now too. All my friends know I'm the go-to for Disney advice, so I'm here to help you plan and experience the magic on your visit! Learn More About Carrie
