Just wondering how the new multi pass ride pass will affect me since I arrive July 21st and it comes into play July 24

Hi there, Tara! Thanks so much for swinging by planDisney--it's great to make your acquaintance. I see that you're just a few short weeks away from a magical vacation at Walt Disney World Resort, so I'm sure you're busy getting all of your (Donald) ducks in a row. Let's get right to it!

Last week's announcement about the new Lightning Lane system was a surprise, for sure! I'm really excited (as I'm sure many Guests are) about the ability to plan our park days in advance again. As we've learned more about the Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass, I feel like it's going to be a great change that combines the positives of good ol' FastPass+ with those of the current Genie+ system.

In speaking to several Cast Members to clarify, I learned that Guests arriving just before the changeover on July 24 will have access to the Genie+ system up until July 23. On the morning of July 24, Lightning Lane will be live and you will be able to book selections for attractions and entertainment on that date, as well as any subsequent vacation days (up to 14).  If you experience any issues, the always-helpful Cast Members at Guest Services will be available in all of the theme parks to troubleshoot. Some additional tips for maximizing your Lightning Lane experience:
    • You can select up to 3 experiences and arrival windows in a theme park. Here's a helpful list of the eligible attractions and experiences for each park!
    • After redeeming your first Multi Pass experience, you can choose another one, subject to availability.
    • Certain Disney PhotoPass attraction pictures and videos will be included free of charge!
Tara, one very welcome piece of information that we learned is that our pals to the north will be able to use the new service pre-arrival once it rolls out. So, for future trips to The Most Magical Place on Earth, you (and your fellow Canadians!) will be able to make your Lightning Lane selections 7 days before your arrival if you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel

I highly recommend keeping an eye on the Disney Parks Blog as the launch of the new system approaches for all of the latest updates. If you have any additional questions in the meantime, please reach out to our planDisney crew again anytime--we are learning all we can about Lightning Lane and are here to help!

    See Ya Real Soon!
