Hi Barbara Daniela,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. I adore Walt Disney World Cast Members! They make magic happen for Guests every day, and I love that you’re thinking about ways to show your appreciation.
At counter service or retail locations, Cast Members are not allowed to accept gratuities. I do know that some people like to bring fun, small tokens to pass out to wonderful Cast Members – I’ve seen people hand out cute themed buttons or small trinkets from their hometown, and it’s always fun to see those interactions. One of my favorite tips for your Walt Disney World vacation is to get to know your Cast Members. They are so knowledgeable, and have amazing stories to tell! They’re basically the locals in the Kingdom, and they have so much pixie dust to share when you make the time to talk to them.
My favorite way to show my appreciation is to pass the compliment along in writing. You can drop in to any
Guest Relations location to write a Cast Compliment; be sure to remember the Cast Member’s name, hometown if you can(it’s on their name tag), and any special details about the interaction. I love to use Twitter for this; tweet @WDWToday with the hashtag #CastCompliment. On my latest trip, I had a great interaction with a resort Cast Member, and I tweeted a selfie of the two of us. It really made my day when I received a reply with a photo of this wonderful person holding a printout of my tweet. These written compliments make their way into the Cast Member’s employee file, and it feels great to help recognize excellent Cast Members.
I’m wishing you some wonderful Cast Member interactions on your vacation, and thank you so much for thinking about ways to spread pixie dust to those who do so much to make our time at Walt Disney World so magical.
