Hi Jose,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for this important question. I love that you're thinking about the ways our small choices can add up to make a big change – I think that makes you an honorary Wilderness Explorer!
I stood up and chEARed last year when I read this
Disney Parks Blog article about the commitment The Walt Disney Company has made to reducing its plastic waste. They've rolled out some really cute reusable shopping bags themed to each park, and the last time I visited, they were phasing out plastic lids and straws (which are still available upon request). Still, I share your concerns about single-use items like cups.
Jose, while I think you've got a great idea, I don't think you'll find you're allowed to use your own cup for alcoholic beverages. On my most recent visit, even though we had Resort Refillable Mugs (which may be reused at beverage islands), when we visited the pool bar at our resort, the Cast Member gave us paper cups of soda to pour into our reusable mugs. We were told it was because of health code. I suspect you'll run into the same concern at Quick-Service locations in the theme parks.
You will certainly be able to bring in a refillable bottle for water; just take a quick look at the
Park Rules to be sure it complies. You'll be able to refill it at drinking fountains around the parks, or you can stop at a Quick-Service location for a cup of ice water. I'd also encourage you to
contact Guest Relations to share your concerns about single use cups.
Thank you for doing your part to protect the hidden pine trails of the forest, sapphire skies, and great wide somewheres of our planet.
