Hello! I am wondering what would most likely be the fastest mode of Disney transportation to get to Port Orleans Riverside from Fort Wilderness? Bus to Disney Springs and then Boat to Riverside? Boat to MK and then bus to Riverside? Thanks!

Hi Sam! Welcome to planDisney! Your vacation to Walt Disney World Resort is coming up next month, and it will be here before you know it! April is such a wonderful time to visit. The temperatures are usually warm but comfortable during that time of year, and you’ll also be there for the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival. There is no time of year that is more beautiful to visit!

This is a great question about transportation between Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. The quickest route really depends on where you’ll be at Fort Wilderness. If you will be closer to the Settlement Depot, which is the primary activity center of the campground, the best route will be to take a boat from Fort Wilderness to Magic Kingdom Park, and then a bus to Port Orleans - Riverside. However, if you will be closer to the Outpost Depot, which is the main entrance to Fort Wilderness, you will want to take a bus to Disney Springs. From there you can take either a boat or bus to Port Orleans - Riverside. My vote is to take the boat!

Keep in mind, buses to Disney Springs typically run only when Disney Springs is open, so you will be unable to get a bus to Disney Springs before 10 a.m. If you need a bus earlier, you can take one from Fort Wilderness to EPCOT and then catch a bus to Port Orleans - Riverside from there. Theme park buses generally begin running 45 minutes prior to park opening. There are also internal buses at Fort Wilderness that will take you between the Settlement and Outpost Depots.

While you’re a Port Orleans - Riverside, did you know you can reserve a horse drawn carriage ride? Port Orleans - Riverside is one of my favorite resorts, and an evening horse draw carriage is the perfect way to see just how beautiful the resort is! You can also take a short stroll over to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter for some beignets!

Sam, I hope this helps you navigate your options for transportation! If you have any more questions, come back and see me. I love adding extra magic to your Disney vacation planning, and I’m always here to help!

With faith, trust, & pixie dust,
