Hi! I was wondering what happened to the Bead Outpost in Africa at Epcot. I read it was left temporarily in Spring but surprised to see it had not returned! Is this a permanent change? I'm allergic to most metals so these paper beads are all I have!

Jambo, Jambo, Jessica! You are not the only fan of the Beau Outpost in the African Pavilion at Epcot. I was a fan of browsing all the beautiful colors and papers, though I never actually built my own necklace here.

You’re correct that the Bead Outpost was removed to make way for the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, but it has not yet returned, and I wasn’t able to confirm that it will. If you are looking for jewelry that has little metal, I would urge you to consider Windtrader’s in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. I suggested this to another guest that was sad to hear that The Bead Outpost wasn’t around for her visit. At Windtrader’s, you can create your own necklace from gemstone beads, totems and other items that don’t have metal (there are also metal options). It may be a possible alternative for your allergies and your creativity. I tied off my leather strings to my preferred length and adore my blue Pandoran rocks on my necklace. It reminds me of the Na’vi and the Banshees that they fly.

Keep your eyes on the Disney Parks Blog for official announcements about The African Bead Outpost or any other merchandise options that may be a good fit for you! Have a magical week! ~ Lindsey P.
