Hi !! I was just wondering if a guest on my reservation declines a new magic band, will the one I have coming in the mail for them will be able to be used?

    Hi Autumn! Welcome to planDisney.

My family has collected a LOT of MagicBands over the years. We even have a MagicBand garland for our Christmas tree! I love having the ability to choose a band that reflects my favorite characters, treats, or Disney places, and they really make visits to the Walt Disney World Resort so convenient.

In recent years, though, I've been trying to cut back on plastic waste and realized that as much as I love MagicBands, I probably don't need a new one every trip. So, I have experience declining MagicBands and am happy to explain how it all works.

Once linked to a Guest's My Disney Experience account, a MagicBand is forever. So, if the Guest on your Disney Resorts Collection reservation declines a MagicBand as part of your pre-arrival options in My Disney Experience, they are still welcome to bring another one that's already linked to their account or activate a new one. In My Disney Experience under "My Profile," they can select "MagicBands & Cards" to see a list of their existing MagicBands. This is also where they would go to link a new MagicBand. If you manage their MagicBands (this would be the case for any minors or other accounts you manage), you'll be able to do this in your own account by selecting "Friends' MagicBands & Cards."

When you say there is a MagicBand coming in the mail for them, do you mean something you ordered from ShopDisney? If so, when the band arrives, they will go to this same spot in My Disney Experience and select "Link a MagicBand or Card."  If this is a MagicBand you ordered through My Disney Experience as part of your resort hotel reservation, it will come pre-activated and you'll be all set.

Autumn, a Cast Member at your Walt Disney World Resort hotel can help with linking MagicBands, so if you have any issues, they'll be able to help. On my most recent visit, my daughter's band and mine were mixed up when they were programmed, and it just took a couple of minutes for the Cast Member to "bibbidi bobbidi boo" them into working order.

I hope this clears up your question and you are ready to tap those MagicBands and let the magic begin! If you have any further questions as you count down to your autumn visit to Walt Disney World Resort, please come back and see us.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
