I am wondering if getting Magic Bands for our trip is worth it. I have them for trips to Disney World, but I’ve never purchased them for Disneyland.

    Hi Amy!

It's great to meet you, thank you for your question! While I have used a few different versions of Magic Bands at Walt Disney World Resort in the past, I have to say that the current MagicBand+ is a "whole new world" of helpful technology. I've happily used mine at the Disneyland Resort, and I'd love to share my experience with you!

My favorite feature of MagicBand+ is the ability to enter and exit the theme parks so easily! My kids love being able to "tap in" on their own instead of waiting for me to use the mobile app to access their tickets. It's also very helpful when you're entering a Lightning Lane queue. It's so nice for me to not be swiping through multiple tickets on my phone! In fact, after seeing my kids enjoy their bands so much I decided to purchase one for me, too. One less thing I have to use my phone for! We also use our bands to collect photos from Disney PhotoPass Photographers, which is totally great when you're trying to gather up all your gear so the next group can have their picture taken.

We've also loved seeing how the bands make us part of the magic across the parks. Whether it's an attraction that gives us a little burst of light (we've noticed a particularly spooky one at the end of the Haunted Mansion) or a nighttime spectacular that turns our bands into a party, they're so much fun! My kids are also obsessed with Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters and would happily use their bands to track scum across the galaxy for ages. There are even some special decorations for the Disney100 Celebration where you can spread a little pixie dust with your bands!

Here's the really great part: MagicBand+ can be used at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort! So if you often travel to both coasts then you'll be able to get some good mileage out of your bands. The parks have some fun exclusive designs, so don't feel like you have to order them online in advance if you aren't sure yet!

Amy, I hope my experience gives you a better idea of what it's like to use MagicBand+ at the Disneyland Resort! If you have other planning questions please let me know, I'd be happy to help. Wishing you a magical visit to the parks!

    Keep moving forward!
