Hello! I was wondering if genie plus lightning lane availability is per group or per person. Meaning if I'm with a group will it decrease my chances of getting regular or individual lightning lanes versus if I'm going alone? Thanks!

    Hi Mohammad, welcome to planDisney!

You've done your homework and have asked an important question about strategizing for your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort visit. Disney Genie+ service is a wise investment if you want to spend less time waiting and more time experiencing attractions during your park days. Individual Lightning Lanes guarantee a limited wait time for the most popular attractions at all four theme parks. Let's dig into the Disney details of how that happens.

Disney Genie+ service can be purchased anytime after midnight each park day. You can purchase Genie+ for anyone on your Family and Friends List with a theme park reservation via the Tip Board of your My Disney Experience mobile app (three small lines at the bottom right of the home page --> Tip Board). I recommend purchasing by 6:45 a.m. so you can book your first Genie+ Lighting Lane attraction at 7:00 a.m. Similarly, you can book a Genie+ Lighting Lane attraction for anyone on your Family and Friends List with Genie+ service linked to their My Disney Experience account.

Genie+ Lighting Lane reservations are linked to individuals in My Disney Experience. Part of the Genie+ Lightning Lane booking process allows you to edit and confirm your booking party, which allows Genie+ Lightning Lane reservations to be booked individually or with a group. In my experience, booking Genie+ Lightning Lane reservations with a group may result in a slightly later next available arrival window than the one listed on your Tip Board, but it does not prevent you from booking the reservation.

The same general rule applies to Individual Lighting Lane reservations, which are à la carte purchases that allow you to select a return time. The biggest factor that determines Individual Lighting Lane arrival window availability is the time of purchase. Guests staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel can purchase Individual Lighting Lanes at 7:00 a.m.; all others can book at park opening. The early bird gets the biggest availability of arrival windows!

If experiencing Lightning Lane attractions with a group is a priority, I recommend reserving them as a group. If individuals in your party wish to experience different attractions at the same time, Genie+ service gives you the flexibility to do so. Keep in mind an individual is eligible to book their next Genie+ Lighting Lane attraction as soon as they've tapped in at their first attraction, or at the time listed on their Tip Board Banner.

I hope this information helps maximize the magic on your park days, Mohammad. I'm happy to continue the conversation anytime.
