I am wondering how flexible the disney dining plan is with the snack option. Am I able to use our snack credits for things other than listed in their eligible snack options and how will I know? Any recommendations for using snack credits for breakfast?

Hi Julie and thanks for the great question about the Disney Dining Plan.

I absolutely love the Dining Plan, and the included snack credits are a nice little perk!  A lot of people I talk to don't realize that snacks consist of so much more than sodas and chips.  Most locations around the parks participate in the Dining Plan program, and you will be able to identify "snack" items by a purple and white symbol located to the right go the item on the menu.  Typically, anything under $4 is considered a "snack" but in many cases eligible "snacks" cost more than $4 such as my favorite, the Dole Whip Float from Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom.  If you do not see the symbol beside an item under $4, it never hurts to ask a Cast Member if the item is snack-plan eligible!

When it comes to breakfast, a great way to save money and bank meal credits is to spend snack credits instead.  Usually pastry items such as muffins, croissants, yogurt parfaits, and danishes are included on the snack plan. My absolute favorite snack credit breakfast item is the Cinnamon Roll at Magic Kingdom's Main Street Bakery.  These HUGE oozy, gooey buns of goodness are filling and served warm and fresh. Another one of my favorites is the Carrot Cake Cookie from Hollywood Studios' Writer's Stop.  This yummy baked good consists of yummy Cream Cheese Frosting sandwiched between two HUGE Carrot Cake Cookies... once again available for just one snack credit!

If you query Google for a "list of Disney World Snack Credits" you will find that several websites and blogs have compiled lists of available snack-credit eligible items!  I think you'll be amazed at the variety!

Hope my answer has been helpful and encourage you to write back with any follow ups you may have!
