Hi, I was just wondering what the earliest time was to depart to Walt Disney World from Port Canaveral? My son and I are going on the 8-night Bahamian Cruise from New York, the last week in August. Also how are the crowds at the parks? Thanks

    Ahoy Karen!

I'm so excited for you to sail one of the newest Disney Cruise Line itineraries out of New York City!  I know your views are going to be spectacular as you sail past the stunning NYC skyline and iconic Statue of Liberty as you head down for your Bahamian adventure on the Disney Magic!

The Disney Magic is scheduled to dock at the Disney Cruise Line Terminal in Port Canaveral at 6:15am.  Once the ship is cleared, you will be able to disembark for your fun-filled day at Walt Disney World.  From my experience, this usually takes around 30-45 minutes so your departure will probably be around 7:00am.  Pick-up begins at all four theme parks at 3:30pm.  You will want to check the Personal Navigator, your daily cruise newsletter, for more details once you are aboard.

The crowds should be manageable in late August with many school systems already back in session.  My best advice is to utilize the Fast Pass Service to maximize your time in the parks.  Remember, you can stay at one park or use the complimentary Disney transportation to visit any of the other three theme parks.

Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel with your question.  I hope you will let me know if you need any other cruise questions answered before you set sail!  I'm happy to help.

    Happy Sailing!
