Hello, Melissa! Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel and asking your question!
Surprising your child with a Disneyland Resort vacation is so much fun as a parent. I love seeing my daughter’s eyes light up and watching her jump up and down with joy when I tell her we are headed to the Happiest Place on Earth! Once upon a time, there was a service where you could schedule a prerecorded call from a character, but, unfortunately, that service is no longer offered. However, I do have some ideas to help build the excitement for your upcoming trip:
-
Start a countdown calendar. We have a simple white board that says “XX days until Disney!” My daughter really likes changing the number every morning.
-
Try a scavenger hunt to reveal the trip. When we surprised my niece a few years ago, we hid puzzle pieces throughout the house with clues of where to find the next piece. Once she collected all the pieces and put together the puzzle, it spelled out “You’re going to Disneyland!”
-
Get your child involved in the planning process. Watch videos on
www.disneyplanning.com about all the things to explore at the parks. Show your child the different characters on the
Disneyland app and have him/her pick the top five characters they want to meet. Your child can even help you make a plan of which attractions to ride first and at which restaurants you should dine.
If you have any more questions as you plan your adventure, please stop by again. I hope your visit is full of magic and memories!
