Wondering if the dining plans would actually save me money if we aren't "big eaters". The plans all seem to include a "desert" which shocked me! Really, a desert w/ every meal?? Why?? If we didn't do this would we still save money?

When I estimate meals for my family using menus at www.AllEars.net with what we would actually order if paying out-of-pocket versus the price for the Disney Dining Plan, it is almost always less expensive for our family to pay out-of-pocket.

The Disney Dining Plan (DDP) does offer a lot of food. The plan used to include appetizers!

The plan becomes more cost-effective when diners order the most expensive items on the menu. If you enjoy steak rather than a pasta or chicken dish, for example, then your savings with the DDP may be greater.

Also, the DDP allows guests to pay for their meals prior to their trip which is an added incentive to some families.
