I was wondering about the deluxe dining plan versus the regular dining plan and whether or not you are left with unused meals and if its worth it to upgrade.

    Hey, Laura!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Get ready for some great food during your December holiday extravaganza at Walt Disney World Resort. The difference between the Disney Dining Plan and the Deluxe Dining Plan is a lot of food. So, how hungry is your group?

I would evaluate these two questions before choosing the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan over the Disney Dining Plan:

    1. Will we want to dine with Disney Characters each day?
    2. Will we want to experience Signature Restaurants/Dinner Shows?

If yes, then here is what I would do. Plan ahead.

Decide which dining experiences you want and add up the cost. All menus and prices are found online. If the out of pocket expense is close to the cost of a Deluxe Dining Plan and you will use all the meal credits then that's the best buy. Left-over meal credits will not be refunded.

Disney Dad Tip: The Disney Dining Plan is a great buy even if you have out of pocket expense for some meals. You won't be left with unused meals and you won't be forced to constantly plan where to eat. If you want the Deluxe Dining Plan then make sure to reserve some two (2) table service dining experiences to use up credits such as Disney's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show or at Signature Restaurants such as California Grill, The Hollywood Brown Derby and Morimoto Asia.

Laura, enjoy making and eating many Magical Memories!
