Hello! I was wondering if characters would be allowed to sign my daughter’s arm cast?

Ahoy, Victoria! It sounds like your Disney Cruise Line vacation is on the horizon. How exciting! We had time aboard the Disney Fantasy shortly after my son had surgery, so I know what it is like trying to navigate a cruise with a little bit of extra planning.

I'm thrilled you came to planDisney to ask about one of the most magical aspects of a Disney Cruise to make sure your daughter can add some magical moments to her core memory bank. I love seeing the kids on board with autograph books in hand, excited to meet their favorite pals! Typically, characters will sign items they can hold, like autograph books, pillow cases, and picture frame mats. They will sign clothing, but you can't wear it at the time. I have seen Guests with signatures on a cast, so this may be an exception they will accommodate.

If they can is a significant consideration. A cast on your daughter's arm can be challenging for some characters, especially Mickey, Minnie and their pals who have large gloves and broad smiles. Princesses may have an easier time signing it. Given the surface of the cast, a wide Sharpie marker may make signing it a bit easier for those who can.

You could consider taking a stylish cast cover. These can be removed to hand to our friends, making it easier to ask everyone and to have a souvenir after the cast comes off. Cast covers are stretchy, so take a book or other hard surface to make it easier for them to sign.

You could also do stickers. I bought sheets of white sticker paper at a craft store to create stickers that would last on my favorite water bottles. You could look at online major retailers for blank freezer labels as an option with a bit of sticking power.

Each character you meet will have a friend supporting them. As you get in line for each Character Greeting, you can ask them about signing your daughter's cast. They will be the ones who can let you know if it's possible and something the character is comfortable doing.

Victoria, I hope you have a magical adventure beyond the reef! If you have any other questions, please sail back by planDisney. We're all aboard to help!

    SEAS the Adventure!
