I am wondering what the Caribbean Beach Resort is like in December, right before Christmas. I just worry that the beach theme won't really mesh well with the holiday spirit. What do you think?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Kim!

I’m from Canada, so I totally get it: the holidays are supposed to involve warm mittens, cocoa, and snow-dusted trees. But let me reassure you that nobody decks the halls like Disney, and the holiday magic is truly breathtaking all around the theme parks, resorts, and Disney Springs.

One of my very favorite things to do during the holidays is tour the Walt Disney World Resort hotels, because each one has a uniquely decorated Christmas tree, reflecting that resort’s theme. They are magnificent! At Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, your tree will be decked out in a Caribbean theme with lots of bright, tropical colors, and there is gorgeous matching garland strung throughout the resort. You might even hear calypso versions of your favorite holiday songs. If you search online, you’ll find lots of photos and videos of this resort during the holidays, to give you a sense of the feel. You're also welcome to bring your own decorations for your room, and there are lots of great ideas online for that, too. I love seeing Guest room doors and windows decorated for the holidays as I walk through my resort!

Kim, I’ve been at Walt Disney World during the holidays the past two years (and am about to head there again!), and I shared your reluctance, but I have to say: there is something magical about feeling warm Florida air while enjoying decorated palm trees. It just works. At some holiday attractions, including the Christmas Tree Trail in Disney Springs and Sunset Season’s Greetings at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you’ll even get to experience magical holiday snowflakes falling while you take in the seasonal sights and sounds. It’s so festive!

If you really want to enjoy a traditional, cozy holiday feeling, look into Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. This is my very favorite resort hotel during the Christmas season, with warm fireplaces and a towering Christmas tree in the lobby. The holidays mesh beautifully with the theming, and it really feels like you’re enjoying the holidays in a cozy cabin.

Have so much fun planning your Walt Disney World Resort vacation for next Christmas, Kim. As you plan and dream, check out the Disney Parks Blog to get a sense of this year’s holiday offerings, as they might help you dream up your family’s perfect Christmas. Please come back and see us if you have any further questions as you make your list and check it twice. I hope you have a very happy holiday season this year!

Wishing you a merry and magical vacation,
