Hi, Carly! Welcome to planDisney!
As the mom of one pirate and one princess, I'm always on a treasure hunt for
Walt Disney World Resort experiences that appeal to a wide range of interests. I'm happy to share some ideas for magical experiences that your boys might enjoy.
Currently,
Captain Hook's Pirate Crew is listed as "temporarily unavailable" on the Walt Disney World Resort website. I have not heard when Captain Hook might begin looking for new recruits again, but if you follow the
Disney Parks Blog, you'll be sure to hear if there is any news about this activity returning.
In the meantime, if your boys might be interested in helping Captain Jack Sparrow on a mission, I would recommend
A Pirate's Adventure - Treasures of the Seven Seas. This interactive scavenger hunt takes place in Adventureland in
Magic Kingdom Park. Just stop by The Crow's Nest located near
Pirates of the Caribbean to pick up a talisman and a secret treasure map. There is no additional fee beyond your park admission to participate in this activity, and there is no time limit, so you can complete your pirate missions at your convenience.
If your boys are hoping to visit with some of their favorite Disney friends during your trip, they are in luck! You can take a look at this list of
character experiences to see who your kids might be interested in meeting. You can also filter the list of Walt Disney World Resort restaurants to show all of the
character dining experiences. Some of my family's favorite non-princess character meals are at
Garden Grill Restaurant,
Chef Mickey's, and
The Crystal Palace. I highly recommend making a breakfast reservation for The Crystal Palace. Not only will you get to meet Winnie the Pooh and his friends, but you'll also get to try the churro Mickey waffles on the breakfast buffet. They are delicious!
If you have any other questions, please stop by and visit us again. Wishing you and your boys the best vacation ever!
