Hello, just wondering how busy Magic Kingdom is on Mother’s Day? I am planning on taking my daughter that weekend for the first time. -thank you, Kristie

    Hi Kristie!

Welcome to planDisney!  I can't imagine a more perfect way to spend Mother's Day than with my kids at The Most Magical Place on Earth!  I'm sure you and your daughter are going to love your special day together!

Kristie, while I tend to find weekend crowds are always a bit heavier than weekday crowds in the parks, I don't think you'll notice a large increase in the number of guests because of Mother's Day.  However, crowd levels can sometimes be hard to predict so I'm happy to share a few tips to help manage a busy park in case you encounter more crowds than you were hoping for on Sunday.  First, Disney Genie is a free service in the My Disney Experience Mobile App which allows you to select some of your top priorities during your day and then it will show personalized recommendations on when to enjoy each attraction or entertainment option.  You'll also find the "Tip Board" here which will show you current wait times for rides and attactions.

If you want to take that to the next level, Disney Genie+ is available for purchase.  Personally, I always buy Genie+ when visiting Magic Kingdom Park as there are so many rides we want to enjoy.  It really helps us make the most of our visit!  You can purchase Genie+ after midnight on the day of your visit and then can start making Lightning Lane selections at 7:00 AM.

When it comes time to eat, there are a lot of great options in the parks and at the resorts just outside of Magic Kingdom on the monorail loop.  Advanced dining reservations are recommended for table service restaurants, but you may be able to find walk-up availability in your app if you don't see any reservations available before arriving.  Two of our favorites are dining with Winnie the Pooh and friends at The Crystal Palace and the Grand Floridian Cafe which is just a quick monorail or boat ride from the park.  If quick-service dining is more your style, you can use Mobile Food and Beverage Ordering in your app to avoid waiting in line when ordering.

Finally, you won't want to miss the wonderful entertainment around Magic Kingdom.  My boys love singing and dancing along to the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade as well as Mickey's Magical Friendship Faire.  Of course, no visit is quite complete without watching Happily Ever After fireworks at the end of the night.  I always find myself getting a bit misty-eyed and hugging my boys a little tighter during the show after a wonderful day together!

From one Kristi to another Kristie, I hope you and your daughter have a wonderful time celebrating Mother's Day at Magic Kingdom Park!  If you have any other questions, please feel free to visit us again here at planDisney - we're all ears!

    See ya real soon!
