Hi Moms! I was wondering when booking trip including dining plan, how important is it to use the correct ages. My DS will be 11 and is only going to want to eat off the kids menus at restaurants. I hear that sometimes they can't if paid for over age 9.

Hola, Jennifer! Entering the correct age of a person is important. Take it from someone who knows: I'm constantly tempted to fib about my birth date, seeing as it's April 1 and wrought with taunts from friends, family and foes.

Your 11 year old son will have no problem ordering off of the kids menu. If he were 9 and wanted to order off of the adult menu, there'd be a problem because you'd be underpaying on his meal selection (by trying to use a kids dining credit on an adult-priced meal.)

However, if your 11 year old son is ordering off of the kids menu, you'd be overpaying (if you're using an adult dining plan credit to do so.) Disney doesn't have a problem with this arrangement. And you can totally do it - but, it's not a cost effective decision if you're doing this for each meal.

So... if you're planning for your 11 year old to order off of the kids menu for every meal, you'd probably realize a better overall value by paying out of pocket for meals and not adding the dining plan to your vacation package.
