Hi, I was wondering if the availability to parks is subject to change based on COVID restrictions? We noticed the magic kingdom was full for the dates we chose so we were wondering if there's any chance it could change

Hey there, Elizabeth. Are you getting so excited about your Walt Disney World vacation? It's coming up in just a few short weeks.

Walt Disney World theme park availability changes all of the time. When Guests change their plans, which happens often, or a trip gets canceled altogether this opens up spots on the calendar that might have previously been full. My best advice to you is to be diligent about checking back. I've had great luck with grabbing a park pass reservation for a park I wasn't able to before just by checking at different times throughout the day.

If you aren't able to secure a park pass reservation for Magic Kingdom Park while you are at Walt Disney World, I'd consider upgrading your tickets to include the park hopper option. Park hopping is where you can visit multiple Walt Disney World Theme Parks in one day. Park hopping just recently returned to us and I couldn't be happier because it's my preferred park touring method. However, park hopping does look a little bit different than it did before.

    Here's how it's currently working:
    • Guests wishing to park hop must have valid theme park admission with the park hopper option
    • Guests wishing to park hop must make park pass reservation for an initial park to visit each day
    • Guests must scan in and visit the theme park with the park pass reservation first before continuing on to other theme parks later in the day
    • Guests do not need to make additional park pass reservations to park hop - just that initial one each day
    • Park hopping hours now start at 2:00 p.m. and last until each park closes in the evening.
    • Complimentary park-to-park bus transportation is currently being provided starting around 2:00 p.m. for Guests wishing to park hop
So depending on your plans, you could always visit the theme park that you have park pass reservations at first during your upcoming vacation and then hop to Magic Kingdom Park in the afternoon and evening. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how much you are able to cross off of your must-do list even coming at 2:00 p.m. The later it gets into the evening, the more the crowds tend to thin out and by the end of the night you should be walking on your favorite attractions.

I have my fingers crossed that you'll be able to snag a park pass reservation for Magic Kingdom Park but if not, keep parking hopping in mind! If you have any other questions before your trip, please feel free to come back and ask me

    Have fun!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
