Hi I was wondering if anyone knows which camping area at Fort Wilderness is best. I'm used to lush hotels but thought it would be fun to rent an RV and rough it. I'm looking for closeness to pools, entertainment, parking lot (renting a car), Seclusioin!

    Erin:

Our family's a big fan of Fort Wilderness. In fact, we just returned from a trip the fort!

The term "best" is different to every camper, so I'm glad that you gave me a couple of clues.  The renovated pool area is in the middle of the fort's property with bike and canoe rentals in the nearby bike barn.  Also located in the Meadows area is the ampitheater for Chip 'n' Dale's campfire singalong.  Loop 600, 900, and 1000 are probably best if you want to "be in the middle of everything."

Pioneer Hall which houses the Hoop Dee Doo Revue, Crocket's Tavern and Trail End's Buffeteria, along with the fort's stables, Mickey's Backyard BBQ, the pier with water craft rentals and the Settlement Trading post stands at the opposite end of the fort from the parking lot. Loop 700 or 400 are my preferred loops in this area--they are premium loops, not actually "preferred" loops which, to me, are crowded.

If you're renting a car, you can park it on your pad with your RV. I wouldn't recommend keeping it in the parking lot, as it's not convenient really to any loop.

You can request a loop, but Disney doesn't guarantee it. You can, however, reserve a partial hookup, full hookup, preferred hookup or premium hookup--each at a different price.  Although our family is quite happy with the full hookups in loops 1600 - 1900, it sounds like you would be happiest with a premium site that will get you closer to the action.

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
