This year, I purchased a
MagicBand+ for each member of my family. It's such a convenient way of scanning into the theme parks and
Lightning Lanes. It's also really convenient when you want a picture from a
Disney PhotoPass photographer or if you want to enter your hotel room. It's so much quicker than having to locate your phone, open up the app, wait for it to load, etc. MagicBand+ is especially great for kids. My kids really enjoyed the haptic vibrations and colorful lights during the nighttime spectaculars. However, I did have to keep telling them, "Stop looking at your MagicBand+ and look at the fireworks!"
Jordan, I can't figure out from your question whether you have linked the MagicBand+ to your account or your friend's account. If you've already linked it to your account, you'll be pleased to know it's possible to reassign an
unused MagicBand+ to another person. In fact, I had to do this myself earlier this year. Here's what I'd recommend you do: If you'd like to reassign a MagicBand+ that has never been used, contact Disney using the chat feature on the World Disney World website. If you visit the website and wait for the chat feature to pop up (this might take a few minutes, depending on availability), you can chat with a Cast Member. Let them know you'd like to reassign an unused MagicBand+. They'll likely ask you to fill out an online form in order for them to get access to your My Disney Experience account. From my memory, I believe you'll need to have your friend on your Family & Friends list. Once you do that, the Cast Member should be able to reassign the MagicBand+. It'll then appear on your friend's My Disney Experience account.
If the MagicBand+ you purchased has already been linked to their account, then they can absolutely download the
My Disney Experience mobile app. Once they sign in, they should see their MagicBand+ listed under "MagicBands and More."
